I think being able to peer review and take peer’s criticisms is a successful skill to have. When I peer review I read the paper over first before I start editing and making comments. I think it is important to be honest when you peer review but not to be hurtful. Offer advice and support, do not tear apart a paper. I think when I edit a peer’s paper I point on things that can be improved but also leave a number of positive comments. Grammar and spelling errors can be addressed but focus on commenting on the major components of the essay such as, the thesis statement, claim sentences, and direct quote sandwiches. For example, if I noticed that analysis of a quote could be furthered explained to give more support to their argument I would point that out. When I receive comments from my work I read them carefully and make sure to take their advice on how to improve my paper seriously. Sometimes it is good to have someone read over your paper because they can point out things that you don’t notice since it is your own work.  My introduction and conclusion paragraphs tend to be where I struggle so I took my peer’s advice on how to improve them and it had made my papers stronger. Overall, I think being able to peer review is important and I think I can do it successfully to help my peer with their writing process and i am also able to get the same support from them.
